Service charges

In addition to the basic rent, some tenants are required to pay a service charge. Your tenancy agreement will tell you if you have to pay a service charge.

Your service charge covers items such as communal lighting, caretakers costs, communal cleaning, lifts, entry phone, etc. It also includes the administration costs that relate to these services. We aim to provide services in the most cost-effective way that can reasonably be expected. The annual increase in service charges reflects the inflation associated with the cost of providing estate and/or block services, unless there has been a significant change in the services provided.

At least every two years we will provide written details of the proposed range and cost of the services for the following year. You will be invited to comment and in some cases a meeting can be called to discuss these services, with the final proposal taking tenants views into account.
