Insuring your home
Residents often assume that their own contents and possessions are covered under our insurance policies. But as we don't own these items, we are not able to insure them. You are only covered by our buildings insurance.
Taking out home contents cover
Home contents insurance protects your possessions against loss or damage, such as kitchen fires, burst pipes and thefts.
You might be surprised to find out how little you have to pay annually to protect your home contents. Many schemes give you the option to pay monthly - sometimes with a payment card at the post office.
To give you an idea
Take a look around your house. How much might it cost to replace your most valuable possessions, such as the furniture, beds, clothes, and your child's toys in the event of a fire? The contents in your lounge alone could be worth up to £3,500, and a two bedroom flat could hold over £10,000 worth of valuable possessions.
However, it is possible to insure £10,000 of home contents for around £10 a month.
