CHANGE
Last year MHT London worked with nine other housing associations in the Change project. The goal of the project was to assist on welfare benefits to become more financially included by opening banking facilities for the receipt of their entitlements.
If you need help setting up a bank account, want debt advice or need to set up direct payments for your benefits or state pension, then CHANGE will be able to help you. Specially trained staff can help you make the right decision about your account.
MHT London have also joined the Affordable Credit Trial which aims to assist financially excluded Change residents to borrow money at reasonable rates of interest. These residents cannot borrow funds through traditional banking routes (including credit unions) and normally only have access to credit via doorstep lenders on extortionate terms.
Recently, CHANGE has included offering affordable loans to help reduce the need to use expensive forms of credit. This will initially be tested in a few London boroughs, and if it is successful the service will be made available to more people.
